The Kelimutu crater lakes at sunrise under a pink and blue sky

Five days

Two boat days, then the crater lakes at sunrise.

Bajawa in, two full days on the 17 Islands, then south to Moni for Kelimutu — the version with room to breathe.

In short

Five days runs Bajawa to Riung on day one, two full boat days on days two and three, then Riung to Moni via Ende for Kelimutu at sunrise on day five.

  • Two boat days means a spare if weather takes one.
  • Kelimutu needs a night at Moni beforehand.
  • Reversible — it works south to north too.

The five days

Or rest instead

Day three does not have to be a second boat

A second full day on the water is a lot of sun. Some people spend day three in the village instead — the market, the harbour, a walk up Bukit Latung for sunset.

Keep the option open rather than booking two boats up front.
