Wooden boats drawn up on the shore at Riung under an orange dusk sky

About

We publish guides. We do not run boats.

An independent English-language editorial guide to Riung and the 17 Islands Marine Park on the north coast of Flores.

In short

Riung Flores researches, writes and publishes travel information about Riung and the 17 Islands Marine Park. It is not a tour operator, an agency or a booking platform.

  • Every figure traced to a source, or marked as reported.
  • One commercial relationship, disclosed wherever it applies.
  • Corrections published in the open.

What this is

Three things worth being clear about

Stated here rather than buried in a footer.

Dense hard coral on a shallow reef

What we do

Research, write and update guides to a destination that is under-documented and mostly written about second-hand.

What we do not

Sell trips, operate boats, take commission on the Riung fleet, or accept payment for a listing or a recommendation.

Why we link to Komodo Luxury

They fulfil the Komodo leg, and they are in the same publisher network. We state that wherever the link appears.

The figures

One number, one fact

A figure reads the same on every page of this site. Where two sources disagree, we publish the disagreement rather than picking the more convenient number.

Where no official document exists — and for Riung, often none does — we say the figure is reported rather than published.

Frequently asked questions
