Sealed mountain road curving through green hills on Flores

Getting there & costs

No airport. Only the road, and what it costs.

Every route into Riung, every figure worth budgeting against, and the ones we could only find reported rather than published.

In short

Riung is reached overland only — about 70 km from Bajawa or 130 km from Ende — and a day on the water is priced per boat rather than per head, so ask for a price once you know your group size.

  • Bajawa is the shortest way in: 3–4 hours on sealed road.
  • Entrance retribusi is small — Rp 5,000 to Rp 100,000 per person.
  • Rooms run Rp 150,000–375,000. Everything is cash.

Cash

Bring more than you think

Assume there is no working ATM. Boats, rooms, warungs and the retribusi are all settled in cash, and the nearest reliable machines are in Bajawa or Ende.

A warung meal is Rp 20,000–40,000. A room is Rp 150,000–375,000. Draw for the whole stay before you leave the last town.
