A wooden charter boat moored on mirror-flat water

Day boat tour

Out at eight, back by four, three to five stops between.

What a standard Riung boat day actually contains, and the two decisions that change its price.

In short

A standard Riung day boat leaves the pier between 08.00 and 09.30, calls at three to five islands and reef stops, and is back between 15.00 and 16.00.

  • Priced per boat for the day, or per seat if you join another party.
  • Six to ten people aboard a standard wooden boat.
  • Ontoloe at dusk is a separate product.

The day

What the eight hours hold

Routes vary by captain and weather, but the shape is consistent.

Departure

Between 08.00 and 09.30 from the harbour in the town. Earlier is rare and has to be agreed the day before.

What moves the price

Two decisions, and neither is haggling

Whether you take the whole boat or a seat on someone else's, and whether lunch and gear are included. Those two account for most of the spread you will be quoted.

Haggling below the local range mostly buys you an older boat with fewer life jackets.
