Thatched houses around the open central lane of a Flores village

Accommodation

Homestays and guesthouses. There is no resort, and there will not be.

What actually exists in Riung town, why nothing is built on the islands, and what to ask before you book.

In short

Accommodation in Riung is homestays and small guesthouses in the town, typically Rp 150,000–375,000 a night for a fan-cooled room within walking distance of the harbour.

  • Nothing is built on the islands — it is a protected park.
  • Fan-cooled and simple. En-suite is the upgrade.
  • Walk-in works outside public holidays.

Why no resort

The islands are the park

Nothing is built on the seventeen islands because they sit inside the protected area. Camping there is not permitted either.

That is the reason the water is still empty at eight in the morning, and it is worth more than a beach club.
